Carla- spayed female, 8 years
23 pounds and 14 inches at the shoulder

Carla is small but her love for all people is enormous. She is very happy to meet new people of all ages and will do a little wiggle dance when she greets you. Carla is happy and easy going when she visits the vet, the groomer, and other people’s homes. Everyone who meets Carla comments on how sweet she is.

Carla loves to play fetch, go for a walk, run around with the resident dogs, lounge around outside, and go for car rides. Carla knows her basic commands, such as sit, stay, leave it, down, shake-a-paw, and drop it.

When Carla came into our home, we soon realized she was having problems with soiling in the house. We learned that Carla has a tail pull injury. This injury caused sacral nerve damage and as a result, Carla does not realize when she needs to go to the bathroom. Carla has been undergoing rehab, but we need to be prepared that her life may be one where she will always have accidents in the house.

We have learned some great strategies to help with bathroom accidents such as frequent walks to empty the bladder. Carla, like all dogs, loves to mark urine when she is on a walk. With frequent walks, she has fewer pee accidents in the house. We use diapers for bedtime. We cover furniture and beds with pee pads, waterproof blankets or mattress pad covers should she have an accident on the furniture. We also keep her groomed nice and short around the legs and tail to help keep her clean.

Because of Carla’s injury, she will need a home with someone who is patient and understanding of her extra needs.

Adoption fee is $295. She is spayed, microchipped, dewormed and current on vaccines.
