More About Cane Intake - 4/12/2010 wght - 83.8#, 11 yrs. old Adoption - ?

4/14/2010 - Cane is an owner surrender accepted when his owner had to go into a nursing home. He could not bear to put him down and why should he have? Cane has been well cared & loved his entire life. He is heart worm negative, now is up to date on all shots including rabies and bordetella, presented with no fleas or ticks, and a negative fecal check. He is a big, strong, neutered dog for whom I am tempted to get a harness, some inline skates and go rolling!
He was carefully introduced to the pack. He is very mannerly with the dogs, walks away from confrontation and likes personal attn, to which he was accustomed in his previous home. He uses the dog door on his own, can jump a baby gate (very gracefully) but stays in the 4 ft chain link fence. He has been here two days so more assessment is needed but he will be an excellent dog for a family or a single person. One of his former family members stated he was very good with children -she had an infant and a 3 year old.
Did I say Cane is 11 years old? Make that 11 years YOUNG.

The adoption process begins with the e-mail to us.
Please furnish your complete name, address, telephone number, occupation, your veterinarian contact information & at least two personal references.
We will then contact you to ask a series of questions to make sure our pet will be suitable for your home.
Adoption fees for Silverwalk Hounds are $100. This fee helps cover each dog being fully vetted, specialty food when needed, preventatives (heart worm & flea/tick), dental as needed, & supplements for arthritis, etc. while awaiting their forever homes. This fee helps Silverwalk be able to continue the vocation of dog sanctuary. The goal of Silverwalk Hounds is to ensure both dog and adopter are very happy for a very, very long time.
All Silverwalk dogs live in the house in a pack with 24/7 access to a dog door to the yards and field. All are working on basic obedience. House training is attempted but never guaranteed.

Cane is up-to-date with routine shots, house trained and spayed/neutered.
